Web Application Firewall (WAF)

A Web Application Firewall, often abbreviated as WAF, is a specialised form of an application firewall that filters, monitors and, if necessary, blocks website traffic.

This entire process takes place before the potential traffic reaches your website. The WAF is, as it were, between the web application (your website) and the internet. If the traffic is considered unsafe, access is denied and this unsafe traffic is not allowed to access your website.

Filtering the traffic prevents so-called attacks. These include SQL injections, Zero Day attacks and DoS/DDoS attacks.

The advantages at a glance:

  • Protection against attacks
  • Blocking malicious traffic
  • Protection against zero-day attacks
  • Continuous monitoring and incident response
  • Reduction of the risk of data leaks
